Casa Del Mar Cabo San Lucas Wedding

A wedding at Casa Del Mar Hotel

 Cabo San Lucas Wedding

At the Casa Del Mar resort with the sun glistening on the azure sea, the pristine white sands and the palm trees rippling in the gentle breeze is there a more perfect setting for a beach wedding. Angelique and Patrick didn’t think this in October after the Cabo San Lucas hurricane hit the area. They rearranged the date to March and I was lucky enough to be their photographer again. Overseas weddings Mexico style are hugely popular these days but there are few more romantic ceremonies than those held on the beach. This was such a magical day I felt I had to share it with you.

Angelique and Patrick traveled from Los Angeles for their dream wedding. Anqelique hails from The Philippines originally, a nation who certainly know how to throw a wedding so Mexico had a lot to live up to! The couple, and their guests stayed at the gorgeous Casa Del Mar resort in the famous Cabos San Lucas.  This a smaller, more intimate boutique style resort that isn’t a cookie cutter image of all the rest in the area

Casa Del Mar Resort has panoramic views all over the hotel, we used the beach for the wedding portrait photos, take a look below at the gallery and 360 panorama photography to see how good this resort is in its glory.

A wedding in Cabo San Lucas

Why Mexico is such a great location for weddings with more and more happy couples opting for exotic locations for their nuptials several countries are really coming to the forefront of the overseas weddings boom. There is nothing not to like about an overseas wedding in fairness.  Guaranteed weather, a stunning backdrop and the knowledge that only the people who want to be there will make your day even more perfect. Of all the overseas destinations I have a firm favourite at the minute, and that’s Cabo San Lucas.

Looking at the wedding reception photo below, can you show me a better wedding venue in this world to have a wedding. Casa Del Mar resort really delivers.

There is nothing more romantic than a beach wedding, and as a location, Mexico is very hard to beat. I have been lucky enough to attend several of these events and they are an absolute joy. All weddings are wonderful obviously but there is a freedom and relaxed atmosphere surrounding a wedding with other venues simply cannot match. The choice of how simple or how elaborate you want it also comes into play and you really can have the wedding you always dreamed of, with a wedding album that will be the envy of everyone.

Finding a great resort shouldn’t be difficult but there are so many you could easily end up in one of those sprawling resorts and have hundreds of unwanted spectators. Right up there on my list is the  Casa Del Mar which has the intimacy of a boutique resort combined with luxury you want for your wedding. The style is that of a classic 19th-century style hacienda and is a secluded sanctuary that makes the perfect setting for a wedding.

The charm and elegance of this 56 room resort are second to none. Imagine sun-kissed colors in abundance, red tiled roofs, romantic archways leading into peaceful courtyards where you can kick back and have an amazing time. Yes I do pay attention to detail as I know all this will accumulate is some spectacular photographs, and trust me they do. The pool area, twinkling with fairy lights, is the most perfect spot for an evening reception, the ambiance is almost magical, and I feel privileged to have been a part of a wedding here.

From the photographer angle, I see everywhere as a possible shot and visualize the outcome. With all my weddings I tour the venue and select the best spots to take photos, here I was overwhelmed with choice. From the ceremony itself on the pristine white sands to the various locations I knew would look perfect as the sun started to set, Mexico really is a dream destination as far as the photography is concerned.

I have to say that when I get an inquiry regarding an overseas wedding I get a buzz. I may never get back to this location again, so the photos I take really do have to last a lifetime. The color and splendor which Mexico offers a photographer are beyond words, and suffice to say that within minutes of the next booking for a Mexican wedding I will be booking my flight!

Dream wedding in Cabo San Lucas

When I first Angelique and Patrick their joy at choosing such a beautiful setting for their special day was tangible. I ran through the plan and wedding ideas with them we relaxed and enjoyed our surroundings.   As far as destinations for overseas weddings are concerned this resort is up there with the very best. I knew by the light and wonderful surroundings we were in for a very special wedding day and I wasn’t wrong.

The day of the wedding dawned and as the ceremony was set for later in the day when the temperature had dropped slightly I had time to have a good look around and choose some prime location for photographs. The whole point of a beach wedding is to declare your love in a relaxed informal way, and the photos need to capture that essence. I wanted these pictures to be as natural as possible and as it turned out I was very lucky to work with such enthusiastic participants.

When the time finally arrived we gathered on the beach in anticipation of Angelique making her grand entrance. Patrick was very relaxed in his smart casual attire and clearly couldn’t wait to see his bride. Flanked by 6 bridesmaids dressed in coral colored dresses of differing styles, Angelique made a beautiful bride. She looked radiant in her simple yet elegant dress and her bouquet of white roses finished the look perfectly.

The ceremony was over pretty quickly and then the fun began. What a joy it is to photograph a wedding when all the guests have the same vibe and are truly enjoying themselves. You can see by these images how relaxed everyone was and happy to be photographed. No stiff, formal shots for this modern couple who had just become husband and wife on a beach in Cabo San Lucas in one of the most glorious of settings. I had the most fun I’ve ever had over the next hour or so taking the pictures that captured their special day forever.

While I knew this place was impressive nothing prepared me for the outdoor area set up for the reception.  Who would believe the resort was devastated by a hurricane months earlier. Look at that pool, couldn’t you just jump in that pool? Once again simplicity becomes beauty with just the addition of a few fairy lights it was a veritable grotto and so romantic.  When the day finally drew to a close and I retired for the night, I looked back over my day and felt myself smiling. As far as an overseas destination for weddings go Mexico and Cabo San Lucas rocks.
