today is about semla I think it looks better than a pancake,  this is one of the benefits of marrying a swede.

The  history semla it was originally eaten only on Shrove Tuesday ‘ Pancake Day ‘ as the last festive food before Lent. However, with the arrival of the Protestant Reformation  the Swedish people stopped observing a strict fasting for Lent.  The semla in a  bowl of warm milk became a traditional dessert every Tuesday between Shrove Tuesday and Easter. Me being an English pig prefers the scoffing style of eating semla , so any white stuff around my nose its powdered sugar … I dont know what you were thinking.

Today, semlor are available in shops and bakeries every day  everywhere they are sold from shortly after Christmas until Easter. Each Swedish person consumes on average five bakery-produced semlor each year.  I for the record this year have only had one  … and there will be one today .  As a wedding photographer I have hoped one of my swedish or stockholm weddings would have a massive semla for a wedding cake … Im offering a free wedding shoot for anyone that does .

''semla''

Semla ... could possibly be the best ever wedding cake.
